How CloudCrowd Works

Introduction

CloudCrowd is where work gets done. We bring together companies that need work done with people who want to work and get paid. When a company gives us a project, we break it down into a smaller set of tasks that you complete using our Facebook work application. You select the tasks you'd like to work on, and are typically paid the same business* day via PayPal for each approved task.
You can also make more money when friends you refer sign up and complete tasks. You can build a Personal Crowd that's three levels deep, earning money whenever any one of them completes a task. Learn more about our Referral Program.
Each task at CloudCrowd is reviewed by another worker. On some tasks you might do work and on other tasks you might review the work of others. We've completed more than 7 million paid tasks this way.

Finding Interesting Work

We currently offer a steady stream of tasks ranging from simple online profile verifications to Chicago Manual of Style editing. Whether you're a work-at-home-mother or a freelance professional, there is always work to fit your lifestyle and education level. You can visit our Worker Community pages for General Writing, Marketing Writing, or Editing jobs to view the list of current projects with details.

Doing Work

You can perform tasks by accessing our Facebook application after getting started. You will be prompted with a set of instructions and maybe even a link to further guidance and examples. You must follow the instructions provided to you and your work will be graded using the same instructions as criteria.

How Your Work Gets Evaluated

Your work generally is reviewed by another worker, and may be approved, Reviewer Corrected or rejected. If your work is approved, you will be paid the full amount + the stated bonus amount. If your work is Reviewer Corrected and approved, you will be paid the full amount, however, the bonus will go to your peer reviewer.

When Your Work Is Rejected

For writing and editing projects, if your work is rejected and you meet certain criteria, you will have the opportunity to Self-Correct your work and earn the majority of your original pay. To learn more about Self-Corrections, please see the Self-Correction Overview page.

How Credibility Works

When you start, you get a Credibility of 30. Over time, as you do good work, your Credibility will rise, and you'll find it easier to get the best jobs and make more money. If you make too many mistakes, though, your credibility will fall.

How Credentials Work

To access some of our tasks workers are required to obtain Credentials, other simple tasks do not require a Credential. Tasks that require Credentials include a translation, writing, and editing. Tasks that do not require Credentials include online research, data entry and verification. Obtaining Credentials allows you to access higher paying and a wider variety of work. We highly encourage all workers to attempt to obtain Credentials to get the most out of our platform. You can find all available Credentials test by selecting the "Credential" tab in the CloudCrowd Facebook application.

Checktests, Probation, and Suspension

We select tasks with known answers as a quality control filter. These test tasks are referred to as checktests and appear randomly within normal projects. Questions with known answers have obvious answers; if you fail it, you will be locked-out of the project for 24 hours.

If you fail a checktest for the first time on a project, you are locked-out for 24 hours and your Credibility will drop to 25. If you fail a second check test on the same project, you are locked-out permanently and your Credibility will drop to 25.

When you do poor work on CloudCrowd and your Credibility drops to 20 or below, you will receive an email notifying you that your account is suspended. If your account is suspended, you will no longer be able to access work on CloudCrowd.

The Appeals Process

At this time we allow you to make up to four appeals at any one time and a total of eight appeals in a 30-day period. If one of your appeals is denied while you have other appeals filed, your other appeals will remain valid for administrative review.
